American Gothic Reproduction Wall Art

The iconic ‘American Gothic’ painting was created in 1930 by USA artist Grant Wood and now boasts pride of place at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The canvas print depicts a farmer, standing next to a woman who is believed to be his sister, standing in front of a gothic-style house. The artist was famously quoted as saying: The kind of people I fancied should live in that house." Grant Wood used his sister and their dentist to model for this painting, which gives the impression of being set in 19th century Americana.
